Stronger Communities. Shared Humanity.
Bringing people together through education, awareness, inclusion, wellbeing and advocacy, creating meaningful change where every voice matters and everyone belongs.
Who We Are
The Heart of Gold Australia Inc. was established in 2020 as a community focused not for profit organisation with a vision to bring people together and create meaningful change.
We believe stronger communities are built when people feel heard, valued and included. Through education, awareness, wellbeing initiatives, advocacy and community connection, we create opportunities for people from all backgrounds, cultures, ages and abilities to participate, connect and belong.
Our work is guided by compassion, inclusion and a simple belief that every voice matters.
A message from our founder
My name is Mon Bhelley, Founder and President of The Heart of Gold Australia Inc. I founded Heart of Gold in 2020 during the COVID 19 pandemic, at a time when I could see people around me struggling in ways they had never experienced before.
Mental health concerns were rising. Families were facing uncertainty and financial hardship. Small business owners were experiencing devastating losses, and many international students were unable to work, struggling with everyday expenses and tuition fees. Behind every situation was a person who needed to know they had not been forgotten.
But during this difficult time, I also saw something extraordinary. There were everyday heroes quietly helping others. Volunteers were giving their time, supporting families, checking on vulnerable people and helping hold communities together, often without recognition.
I felt these people deserved to be seen.
Through Heart of Gold, I began bringing volunteers into the light and recognising the people whose kindness and service were making a genuine difference. They did not seek applause. They simply stepped forward when their community needed them.
Heart of Gold began with two simple purposes: to help people feel cared for, connected and supported, and to recognise the everyday heroes who were quietly caring for others.
Over the years, that purpose has grown into a broader commitment to education, awareness, inclusion, wellbeing, advocacy and meaningful community connection.
I want Heart of Gold to be a place where differences are respected, voices are heard and people know that they belong. Our stories may be different, but our humanity connects us all.
